Dr. Tasha Peacock

Dr. Tasha Peacock has ten years of higher education and fifteen years of community engagement experience. Tasha has worked with over a hundred nonprofit organizations and worked specifically in undergraduate admissions, student support services, college access, civic and diversity programming, and educational initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh. Tasha currently serves as the Assistant Director of Student Programs & Community Outreach at the Institute of Politics (IOP) where she manages all of the short and long-term civic engagement student programs, provides experiential learning opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, and serves as a Teaching Assistant for the Internship & Seminar program through the IOP.  In her former role as the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions in the Office of Admissions & Financial Aid Tasha played a pivotal role in the development and continuation of the Pittsburgh Admissions Collaboration (PAC) partnership program, involving the Pittsburgh Public School District, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Community College of Allegheny County which served hundreds of students in the region. She is a champion for college access for first-generation and underrepresented students and has given over 1,000 presentations on college and career readiness.

Tasha earned her doctoral degree in Administrative and Policy Studies with a concentration in Urban Education and her Master’s in Social Comparative Analysis from the University of Pittsburgh through the School of Education. Tasha graduated from Duquesne University, majoring in political science and sociology. She earned her Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion certificate through the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. Among her many awards and achievements, Tasha has received the 2022 Community Engagement Staff Award through the University of Pittsburgh, the Gary M. Kelsey Human Relations Award through the PA Association of College Admissions Counseling for outstanding services in support of students in Pennsylvania, and the Western Regional Award from the PA Black Conference on Higher Education for selfless devotion and outstanding services within higher education. Lastly, she is on the National Advisory Committee for a Dream Deferred through the College Board, the Board of Trustees for the Homeless Children’s Education Fund, and the Board of Directors for the Mary Lou Williams Institute.
